HARM-MINIMISATION FOR SELF-HARM:

Service responses to people who self-harm have traditionally focussed on trying to prevent self-harm. However, there is a growing recognition that this approach is often ineffective and can be counterproductive. Growing numbers of professionals along with service-users are now advocating harm-minimisation as a more helpful alternative. This approach shifts the focus of support away from the prevention of self-harm, towards enabling staff and service-users to limit the physical damage of self-harm.
'Harm-minimisation for self-harm' is a ground breaking course covering the legal and ethical aspects of harm-minimisation for self-harm along with practical strategies for reducing risk and damage.
For an optimal learning experience it is recommended that participants on the 'harm-minimisation course should have previously attended our 'working with self-harm' course or have equivalent knowledge and insight.
