"a highly professional approach...
rooted in personal experience"
"The harm-ed training has given Joint Forum members
greater awareness of self-harm and related issues. As a result
of the training, JF members, who are also service users, have
far more understanding about the needs of people who self-harm,
which may include themselves, friends, relatives, or other
JF members. Taking part in the training has contributed enormously
to the emotional wellbeing and confidence of our members".
"The great thing about 'harm-ed' is that they have utilised
their expertise by experience in an accessible form to educate
others along with a sound academic background which combines
commonsense with high quality teaching and communication skills.
This is survivor teaching at its best, but it's also teaching
at its best"
" accessible and supportive … facilitative and
creative… hugely experienced and skilled"
Inspirational - Empowering -
Insightful - are 3 words that I would use to summarise
the training delivered by Harmed.
One of the best courses on self harm that I have been to
- which is also echoed by other staff members in my organisation.
It is of much benefit to carers as well as providers.
The training is exceptional and enables staff (be it front
line workers and managers), who work with people who self
harm, to gain a different insight into a subject that is not
only emotive but at times can feel extremely complex. It's
refreshing to find such excellent training that leaves you
thinking you really can make a difference and enables you
to tailor supportive interventions that little bit differently.
As a worker, the training not only lets you explore these
areas with others but also to look at your own feelings and
perspectives in a safe and supportive environment. A definite
recommended course that I would encourage to be added to training
plans within all organisations.
It's refreshing to work alongside carers and providers from
so many different environments: be it schools, colleges, mental
health organisations, who are all there to learn more and
tailor their individual approaches. Terri and Clare are inspirational
in the material that they cover.
"A very interesting and informative session, delivered
in a professional manner, by reflecting on personal experience
and knowledge of the mental health service. This gave a valuable
and realistic insight to the support available, for individuals
facing and working through trauma. Clare is very motivated
and dedicated to raising awareness in all aspects and issues
around self-harm"
"This training was a well planned and delivered session
that incorporated a range of learning styles. It was informative
and interesting with factual evidence that supported personal
experiences at an appropriate level.
The information and awareness gained at the training session
has enabled Inclusive Learning Officers to support students
confidently".
"A valuable session delivered by a professional with
unparalleled knowledge in this field".
"An innovative approach to the self-harm training has
helped college staff to develop support strategies that will
lead to better experiences for the students.
Your training has helped us to find ways to help people feel
supported and listened to".
